The osseo-integration success factors depend on many parameters, but some of them are more determining : a low bone heating, an absence of the implant micro-movements inside the bone, a large spreading of the fibrin plexus at the implant surface are the main elements…

euroteknika has always been involved in a number of researches on the surface state in collaboration with the Pr. CHAPPARD from the Histology Laboratory of the Angers University, but also with international institutes (International University of Catalonia / Spain – Cukurova University / Turkey).

euroteknika has developped and certified a surface treatment well-tried for more than 15 years. It is a combination of sandblasting with ceramic balls and etching with nitric and fluorhydric acids. The sandblasting operation is made further to specific parameters (selection of the right size of grains, projection distance and power), which have been identified to get cavities with a diameter of around 25 microns side. The biological relevance of this value has been identified through different studies (Stefl ik, 1998 – Buser, 1999). These studies showed that the size of the cavities allowed them to act as retentive pockets which could favor the implant stability, and to be filled with a great volume of newly formed bone.

As a subtractive treatment, the sandblasting has the advantage not to pollute the implant and titanium oxide layer can therefore be fully active in the osseo-integration process.

In addition to this sandblasting treatment, there is an etching with acids to create microretentions of smaller size (from 2 to 3 microns) that enhance the bone cells attachment. The researches of Bruthreadte (1986), Ong (1997) and Buser have shown that such microretentions contribute to the cells differentiation.

 

The resistance tests to unscrewing efforts that have been done on some implants with the two processes (sandblasting + acid-etching) point out the improvement of the performances from 75% to 125% with regards to some implants that are just acid-etched.

The histological observations on our implants show a huge percentage of contact interface between the titanium and the bone tissue of cortical texture, as well as bone new-formed tissue with a normal texture. In a comparative statistical study carried out by the Prof. CHAPPARD on the Branemark implants, it has been proven that our implants are as reliable as the world leading brand just mentioned. The histological analysis on both brands did not show any significant difference either.
